Welcome to the Reading Bug program.  This program was designed as an aid to parents, teachers and students.  It is more than another flash card program.

  1. It is easily configurable to help in children and adults learning a second language with reading, spelling, biology, math, history, shapes, and colors. The possibilities are endless.
  2. The program keeps track of the student's work; making a record of missed questions. This feature is designed to aid the parent or instructor in assessing the student's progress and areas requiring additional instruction.
  3. Each student can have exercises individually configured to help in the areas of concern and keep the student challenged.
  4. This programs does not try to entertain it is schoolwork.  There are plenty of games out there that try to entertain and educate and do neither very well.
  5. Exercises will include; multiple choice, type in answers, random numbers for  mathematics, and multiple fill-in the blanks.
  6. Support in Windows, Linux, and OSX.

The next release will be for Mac or Linux.  There will be some more fixes as the port is cleaned up.
Version 0.6 11-21-06
Windows XP port.  After unpacking the zip file users will need to run "vcredist_x86.exe" located in the readingbug directory.  This program installs needed file, a Microsoft requirement.  ( I hope to have this dependency removed in the future.)  This release has many changes to support windows and a evil bug has shown its self.  Please understand that this is beta code.  I hope to see allot more downloads with this release.
Version 0.5 03-10-06
There are a lot of changes here.  I have included the ability to have 'review' exercises as well as simple math problems that are randomly generated.
Version 0.4c 02-27-06
This version added a working voice speller and some better graphics.  There was a lot of changes to allow for configuration files to control the look and placement of buttons and graphics.

Modifying:

The configuration files are written in XML but not to worry.  The RB Editor beta_0.1 has been completed.  Down load this editor and define the class lists along with the workbooks.  More documentation is coming.

Exercise:

Currently, There is no editor for the exercises.  These files are much more complex than the others are.  I will add more information here in the future.
